Upcoming Changes to the Stainless Steel Welding Standard AS/NZS 1554.6

AS/NZS 1554.6 is a significant standard supporting Design Standard AS/NZS 4673:2001 Cold-formed Stainless Steel Structures. For the Standard to continue to be used as extensively as in the past, its relevance needs to be maintained by regular updating.

The NZWC, in close co-operation with the NZSSDA and a group of overseas experts, has managed the update of the standard with the outcome that the post-public-comets draft has been developed. The expectation is that the new version of the standard will be published this year. It will include significant changes to weld categories, testing requirements, acceptance criteria and many other items.

To keep New Zealand fabricators up-to-date, the key changes will be explained and discussed during the above seminars. The seminars will also cover issues around the new Welder Qualification Standard AS/NZS 2980 that has superseded NZS 4703.
